Haven’t read any of the "DAUGHTERS OF THE PROMISE" books yet, but plan to soon and I finish this series I’m on….. Love the Amish books most of all……

Your books are fabulous. I have read the "Plain" books most recently and they were fantastic. I got my sister reading Amish fiction too and she also thinks your books are superb. All the "Plain" books were great but I loved, loved Plain Paradise. I can’t wait for the #5 to come out. My mother also reads the books and loves everyone. I shed some tears when I read of the comparison to your son’s diagnosis and the character in Plain Paradise. Thanks for sharing that with your readers. Please continue to write such great books. My home state is PA but I do not have an Amish background but have always appreciated their culture. I always remember my maternal grandmother baking things that many Amish do in your books. I am also looking forward to the new Canaan series which I believe comes out in October. Keep up the good work… we need more people like you.

I found your 1st book at Family Christian. I fell in love with it and have read books 1-3 in less than a month! I can’t get enough of them. They are like a good clean lifetime movie mixed with great encouragment. It is great to see how simple and content the Amish people are and how complicated us "english" people make life. I really look forward to getting your 4th and 5th book, plus the Christmas book!

I have read most all of your books and I have really enjoyed them. But it is hard for me to find some of your books, but that don’t stop me from trying to locate them. I use to hate to read until I picked up my first book about the Amish and I haven’t stopped reading yet. I have read about 85 books now about the Amish and I have enjoyed everyone of them .

I’ve not read your books yet, but I’ve had since childhood, a love for the Amish. I have relatives in the Harrisburg area and have spent many summers in Lancaster County. Found you on facebook and am thankful for the connection. Look forward to getting your books! A Neighbor in Texas, Debbi

I am planning on adding more books to my collection soon. Perhaps I might even win one! Blessings to you and yours. Sharing God’s Love, Barb Shelton

I love your "Daughters of the Promise" series. I have read book 1, 2 and 4. I am hoping to find book 3 and 5 soon, because I know they will be as wonderful as the other three. I love and read every Amish related book I can get, but I have enjoyed your series the most. You are a great author and I will look forward to reading many more of your books, and hope to see you at a book signing soon if you are going to be in Northern Idaho.

Your "Daughters of Promise" series has touched my heart deeply and have helped me on my journey from a secular to religious Jew. While your books are Amish Christian fiction, they go beyond that to speak to all who believe in G-d’s will, thank you truly for that.

My daughter gave me a Daughters of the Promise book for Mother’s Day and I had to have all the others. I now have (and have read) all of the series, plus I have also purchased the Amish Christmas and Amish Gathering books (still have to read those, but know they will be great!). I have also purchased other Amish books now and love every one of them! You are one of the best authors I’ve ever read! Your books have inspired me to read and now I am a book worm! 😉 I am so looking forward to more of your books! Keep up the great work!!! I can’t wait until the next Daughters of the Promise book comes out!

Beth, I was in a store one day, not even looking for a book, and your book just stood out, (Plain Perfect) from everything else. It looked inviting; the cover, as well as, the inside print. I just finished the book, and came to look on the web for more of your books. It was a truly inspiring book for me, because I got mad at God 12 years ago because my husband and I got a divorce. And my husband claimed to be a "devote christian." This book brought me back to those days, and what I found out-and what the book tells, is it takes A LOT of faith and prayer to re-discover God. It takes maturity and a deep love of Christ to bring Him back into one’s life. Thank you so much for writing this particular book. As I said in the beginning, this is my first book I’ve read, and plan on purchasing all your books (unless I can get them for free) lol for my reading pleasure. Thanks again.

Here is a real shocker for you…would you believe a 62 year old guy enjoys your books. I’ve downloaded 4 of your books onto my kindle so far, and I just started the 3rd one. My wife and I live just on the southern border of the Ohio Amish country south of Millersburg. The Ohio Amish country is our second home and favorite place to spend the day. My wife will start reading your books shortly, when she can pry the kindle away from me. We both love Christian based books, and all the "happy endings" I’ll make you a deal, you keep writing, and we’ll keep reading. God Bless you!

I have lived around the Amish for so long and now that I have to start school I had to move toward the city. I do miss them so. I am very FROH (glad) that I have a book like yours to read. It really takes me back home. I especially love all of the "Deitch" you use in your novels. Being as how I taught myself the language, with the help of co-workers fellow church members and Amish friends, It really adds flavour to the stories thank you once again, and believe me I’ll be saving up to grab some more of your books. I also posted it on Christian Review of Books, goodreads, alibris, bookreporter – word of mouth, Faithful Reader – word of mouth, book-club-queen and The Bestsellersworld. Best of luck. Now I will pray about who God wants to read it next as I share a good book rather than let it set and gather dust.

My mom was having surgery and I dropped by a local store to see if they had anything to read. This is where I discovered your wonderful books. They have come at a time when I needed the Grace of my Saviour to help me through. My brother has gone home to his Heavenly Father and it has been very difficult for me. I saw him suffer so very much and many times I prayed that it could be me instead, but God saw otherwise. Your books have uplifted me and given me a since of redemption. Thanks for being there!

I have never been much of a reader. And now with 4 kids and a full time job, home, and extra activities I rarely find the time. I picked up PLAIN PERFECT at the dollar store one evening knowing I intended to relax the following weekend. I was pleased that I was so interested in your book. I picked it up every chance I got including taking it on my 30 min lunch break. I finished Plain Perfect in record time for my busy lifestyle and returned to the dollar store to purchase PLAIN PERFECT. Of course it was not there. So I went to the internet and ordered the set of 4. I read Plain Perfect in 3 evenings. I enjoyed it so much and I want to thank you for your work. Now I must get up and do the laundry that has piled up on me. Then I will start on Plain Promise next week.

I’ve read a few of your books and enjoyed them. I’m reading Plain Pursuit now. I was just wondering, why is baby Anna bottle fed in the story? As well as with a pacifier… Is it true that most Amish bottlefeed with baby formula? Or is that something you felt carried over with her mother from being English? I was a little disappointed. For a mom that was never away from her baby, it just seemed odd that she fed her from a bottle. Thanks for writing the stories though, I do enjoy them.

Hi! I am a cop in a large city and so I see things that I think it is hard to find God in. So, when I am reading your books (I just finished book #2 in the series) it is nice for me to have to place to go where God is found in every aspect. You write with such grace that it is upsetting whenever I am forced to put the book down, if even for a moment. Thank you for your inspirations through your writing. You have given me a peace hard to come by these days!!

Dear Mrs Wiseman, I am writing with reference to one of your books I have just read, Plain perfect. I would like to let you know that I really enjoyed reading your book! In Dutch it’s called ‘Terug naar huis’, that means ‘(going) back home’. My name Rozanne Versendaal and I live in a small village in the middle of the Netherlands. I am 17 years old and this year I will graduate from a secondary school of pre-university education. I am a christian and I love reading, because then you can learn about how other people live their lives, and because you can dream about things that are not likely to happen in real life. I think that the German words in your book were very similar to the Dutch words, but I think that’s because Dutch is something like a German dialect. Unfortunately, our (small) library doens’t have any other books of your serie. I hope that they’ll be translated in Dutch very quickly. I know that Ã’m not very good at English (it’s my worst subject of all at school), and I would like to apologise for that. I hope that this letter is written in the right form, because at school, we only had to write letters in which we had to apply for jobs etc. I just want to say that I love your book! Yours sincerely, Rozanne Versendaal The Netherlands

I LOVED Plain Perfect! My husband was at the christian bookstore and saw the book and bought it for me. When he gave it to me I wasn’t sure I would like it because I knew nothing about the Almish. I am also a huge ROMANTIC and almost automatically assumed there would be no love interest. Boy was I surprised! I started reading and couldn’t put the book down. I can’t wait to get the second book in the series. I have several friends that I made a special phone call to just to tell them to buy the book. I thoroughly enjoyed Plain Perfect and plan to read more books written by you. I really like your writing style!

I so enjoyed reading your first book in this series. I have always felt I was born to the wrong time and place. I have longed to live the more simple life that those people have lived. Yes, It is harder in some ways but in other ways it is so much more simple. No pains of the outside world with all the fighting, stealing, pushing and shoving of the people in it. Just peace! Thank you for giving me this to read. To take me there and find the peace that is there in your stories.

I loved your book "Plain Perfect" and I have learned more about The Amish reading this then I did when I visited Lancaster PA when I was 19 ( some 36 years ago!) I went to vacation there and went to all the museums . I also was a little confused about the Mennonites and how they are different. I have always been intriqued by this quiet mystical sect who have endured change along with the Shakers – another religious sect who have not lasted with their lifestyle like the Amish. Thank you for a wonderfully sweet informative story. I look forward to reading your other novels also. Sincerely, Laurie PS I recently moved to San Antonio from New England to be near my young grandkids and son- do you know where the Amish have taken up residence in Texas ? And do you ever come to San Antonio for book signings as I am not sure where Fayetteville Texas is?

I have yet to read any of your books but now that I’ve learned of them I certainly plan on doing so. Any advise for a hope to be author with many a manuscript filed away in the closet but no courage to submit them…. fear of rejection syndrome. Oh I’ve tried now and than with rejections accompanied by encouragements. Happy New Year to you.

I am an avid reader (1-2 books per week) but only read historical Christian fiction. Most often I re-read books while waiting for new ones to be released from my favorite authors. I have just read your "Daughters of Promise" series and am so excited to have a new favorite author. I must say the thing that I like most about your books is that you don’t leave us readers hanging in the wind wondering about what happened to this character or that, I love that you continue the book even after "girl gets boy" your books have such depth and interest. Thank you so much for your great books. Oh buy the way… I am now waiting for a new favorite author to publish a new book

The Amish culture has always facinated me. Growing up close to Lancaster County PA. I once had the privilge to dine with an Amish family at their farm. If I had the chance, or if the chance would ever present itself to me, I would love to have the opportunity to live within the Amish community, and learn firsthand how these God fearing souls live so simply, in a world that demands only that which God intends for the good of oneself.

Dear Beth, I enjoy your novels very much- the characters face the same struggles that we all do. I have a great fondness for Lancaster County and enjoy visiting there as often as I can. Your books are a testament to the fact that there is more that unites our cultures than there is that divides us!

I’ve loved discovering your books. As a painter, I became acquainted with the Amish while living in NE Ohio. I’ve painted the Amish, published books with patterns and instructions for painting the designs, and love them, their lifestyle and beliefs. Your writing style and stories are wonderful, accurate and I can’t wait for your next book to be available! With love and appreciation, Helan Barrick

I love to read, ecspecially love amish atories, fiction and non-fiction. I just finished "Plain Perfect" – it was so refreshing, I loved your charcaters…I always know a good book, when I can’t stop thinking about the characters as though they are real! I read this book in two days, as I had some more time than usual b/c my in-laws had my daughter for a few hours after church today! I laughed and cried, and can’t wait to "visit" these "people" with the next book. I have always wondered if I could be Amish, I suppose in some ways I am, and in other ways I have a lot to learn. I live in a modern world and family, but think and dream about it every day, since I was a young teen. Its like a way of life that calls to me, much like the way God speaks to me. I do try not to make amish people something that they are not, I have researched enough to know that only leads to a wrong view and is not the truth. But, I guess I’m trying to convey that in my heart, I yearn for that way of life and don’t think I will ever stop. Thanks for writing a glimpse into the possibility that those of us on the outside do find our way sometimes.

I grew up in Illinois near Arcola where I always would spend my summers at Amish village. I even went to it for my honeymoon with our church. Anyway now I live in Missouri near Seymour where there is an Amish Community so we see them all the time on the way to Springfield, Mo. I just learned this year that I have been prayer partners with a woman who is Amish and left the community when she married. We have become closer since she learned I loved the Amish – all because I sent her a book for her birthday that excited. She had never read any of the books about the Amish and now is feeling not so alone since being shunned. God Bless.

I just purchased Plain Perfect and absolutely love it! Every year my husband asks me where I would like to go on vacation, anywhere at all. I always choose Lancaster County, Pa.! We have gone there every year for the past 6 years ( it is a 14 hour drive). We just got back from there 2 months ago and I made an amish friend while I was there. Rebecca goes to a phone shed and calls me every 2-3 weeks. It has been an experience I will cherish for the rest of my life. I think I have found a new favorite author!!

I really enjoyed your book "Plain Perfect." I have read a lot of Amish fiction from other authors. Yours was very interesting and enjoyable because it dealt with themes not usually covered in most Amish fiction. I liked that it was realistic and authentic about human nature. It was a very good plot and story.

Hello to my sister, Beth and to all her fans. I just wanted to tell all that her talent as a story teller is beyond awesome. Okay some of you might say that i am only saying that since she is my sister. Yet, yes you would be partly right but i am also saying it because it is very true. Her talent to blend the characters into the story and taking them from one book to the other is one of my most favorite things for an author to do. From her own experiences as a mother she makes Lillian’s feelings come to life as Davids mother. I won’t give away details, in case some of you out there have not read it yet. However I will say this, when you can and do read it, you will find yourself in Paradise and you will not want to leave.

Encourage young people to write, as well as read. My own daughter began reading before age three and hasn’t stopped since. Reading is not only the key to success, but it helps develop self awareness and offers young people a protective element against the evils of society. Good luck with your page here, your life and writing. I write adventure stories for young people and hopefully, in good taste, without abusing my ability to write. I not only want to help young people to develop a great love for reading, but I want to instill in them the qualities of a good character, honest, hardworking dedicated and always looking ahead.

My home is decorated in Amish things. I know that I’m a little older now(55) but I feel so nostalgic when I read Amish books. I came across your book in my book club and am now enjoying it immensley. I can’t seem to put it down. I want to know how Samuel and David are. And especially grandma Irma Rose and grandpa Jonas. Poor Lillian can’t seem to figure out just what it is she needs in her life. But she will figure it out. It is so exciting to read that Amish people love like there is no tomorrow. That their life is harsh and very hard work. But when they do play, its with more family than anyone would ever imagine. They’re not perfect, but neither are we. Just noble people, who live simply and I think they have one up on the American people. Your book reminds us all to be nicer to everyone, and to look at life different. The outside world is different from the Amish. But what I wouldn’t give to just live the simple life for a little while, to get the peace back in my life like Lillian is trying to do. I can’t wait to finish this wonderful book. Thank you so very much for letting me rattle on here. I could talk all day about the Amish. danki from an Englischer

I am Babette’s sister, Betty, living in Bryan. I have taken the Sticker since 1961 and their articles on you drew my attention, however I never got around to purchasing Plain Perfect. We have Barnes and Noble and Hastings in the area. My husband and I drove through Amish country on a "bread basket tour" of America several years ago. It was a wonderful two weeks. We even chatted with an Amish gentleman at the fruit stand. I have forwarded your website info to a dozen of my friends here locally. I wish you the best and I shall look for your book in our stores.

I have read as many Amish books as I can find. They are always hard to put down. I like the way you write, was easy to follow story, not so many people to keep track of and I felt like I was right there. The scripture used is inspirational and makes me think in the modern day premises I live in. They are humbling. I look forward to your books in the future.

I just read your book, it was so good, it only took me 2 days to read it.. I couldnt put it down. I cried thru the whole book, it just makes you feel right in with them, and understanding sometimes, what we have to go thru in this life. I live about 3 hrs from a Amish Country in Ohio. Keep writing those beautiful books, cause to me, it makes me feel closer to the Lord too. Thank you so very much for writing Amish books.. I cant wait fo rthe next one to come out!

Dear Beth, I don’t know where to start. Your book brought tears to my eyes. I think it started around page 140 or so. I am on 185 right now. The characters are so REAL. The way you have written it makes me feel like I know every one of them personally. I don’t want to give too much away but when Lillian and her mother REALLY talk for the first time I was weeping. The conflict Samuel is going through is so well thought out. Jonas and his wife are precious people. I wish I had a grandpa like him. Mine have been gone for 30 years (I was 6 and 8 when I lost them). I have EVERY single Amish and Mennonite fiction book that I can find. The story lines are all running together. I feel sure that this book will be one that I will remember for a long time. I can’t wait to let my mother read it! She is reading Beverly Lewis’ new book now. We usually switch out. Anyway, my eyes are rested enough now. I need to get back to reading. Thanks again. I can’t wait until Spring 2009 now!

I have a fondness and admiration for the Amish people and their decent, uncomplicated lives. My husband and I have visited Lancaster County many times over the years and when we visit, I feel myself being able to relax and breathe more fully and deeply at the first sight of a horse-drawn buggy. Reading novels whose stories revolve around the Amish gives me that same ability to relax and breathe deeply!

Hi Beth, The last time I talked to you it was the day before you left to go to Pennsylvania. You had a spark in your eye when you talked about your journey during the writings of the books and the life adventure that you had experienced. I can not wait to read your books and say "I knew her when". Just don’t forget about us in Schulenburg that know what a special, caring person you are. Gods Blessings on you, Debi

Beth, stop reading the entries in your guestbook and get writing! I once heard a wise woman say that you can’t fix a blank page (or something like that)! I am honored to take over your position as reporter at the paper… those are some big (and tall) shoes to fill! Love ya!

I know you have to be totally excited about this. Hope it works out like you want. I like your website! I personally will have to wait till it becomes a movie since I am not much of a reader. Val will have to read it and then tell me about it.

I’ve really enjoyed getting to know you. You are a beautiful person inside and out. I am blessed to have crossed your path. Tell Cory to be strong and aim for the sky. If you aim at nothing you will hit every time.
