Enter for your chance to win one of 2 signed copies of A Tide Worth Turning by Beth Wiseman if you correctly answer:
Which of the following 7 colorful beaches do the characters in A Tide Worth Turning visit?
1. Punalu’u (Black Sand Beach), Hawaii: Another beach boasting jet black sand, the sand here was formed when molten lava from two nearby active volcanoes (Mauna Loa and Kilauea) flowed into the water, cooled, and broke into fragments that washed ashore.
2. Hyams beach, New South Wales, Australia: This beach holds the Guinness World Record for the whitest sand in the world making it a definite must-visit spot.
3. Pfeiffer Beach, California: The interesting thing about this beach is the violet and dark purple colours from manganese garnet crystals that have washed down from the surrounding rocks.
4. Red Sands Shore, Prince Edward Island, Canada: As the name suggests, half of Prince Edward Island’s coastline features red sand. Definitely a great backdrop for that Instagram selfie.
5. Muriwai Beach, Auckland, New Zealand: Ever wanted to see what a black beach looks like? Then head on to Muriwai beach where the sand is black and sparkly. It is also home to New Zealand’s largest colony of Gannet birds.
6. Porto Ferro, Sardinia, Italy: This sand is a mix of orange limestone, crushed shells, and volcanic deposits to make for a nice orange hue, contrasting starkly with the blue waters.
7. Pink Sands Beach, Harbour Islands, Bahamas: Another beach boasting jet black sand, the sand here was formed when molten lava from two nearby active volcanoes (Mauna Loa and Kilauea) flowed into the water, cooled, and broke into fragments that washed ashore.
