Addison Burke is a successful real estate agent who specializes in high-end closings and who enjoys an elite lifestyle not often afforded someone her age (27). But following a stroke and a recent fall, Addison is forced to hire a caregiver for her estranged mother, Lee Ann; a job Addison chooses not to take on, despite her financial freedom to do so. She hires an agency to fill the position, and to her surprise, they send a man for the job.

Logan has somehow managed to keep his act together despite a past that is slowly catching up with him. If he can make enough money over the next couple of months by tending to Lee Ann Burke, he should be able to flee the country before his world comes crashing down around him. But when Lee Ann’s beautiful daughter, Addison, begins to awaken feelings in him that he thought died long ago, he begins to question whether or not fleeing from the past is worth leaving Addison forever.

Will Addison let down her guard for love and renew her relationship with her mother? Can Logan face his past, come out unscathed, and act on his feelings for Addison? And why is Lee Ann selling everything she owns on EBay and Craig’s List?

What is a Street Team?

The Beth Wiseman Street Team is a group of dedicated readers willing to help market my books. They will generate buzz and enthusiasm for my brand by completing assigned tasks, reading my books and posting reviews.

What’s in it for the Street Team member?

  • E-copies of my latest books – ahead of everyone else
  • SWAG, when available
  • Promotional materials (bookmarks, postcards, etc.)
  • Access to me and my promotional team (Janet and Jamie) and other Street Team members on our own exclusive Facebook page

I realize you are volunteering your time, therefore, I will try to reward you with respect, friendship, and gifts.

What am I looking for as a Team member?

You must sincerely like my work and love my characters and storytelling. A Street Team member must engage with readers on the internet (have Facebook and Goodreads accounts). I’d like for you to spread the word to friends and family about my books and share promotional materials with local libraries and book sellers.

When you receive a new release, help us look for any typos that managed to survive the editing and proofing process and report them.

And most importantly, write and post a review on either Amazon, Goodreads, Barnes & Noble or Christianbook.com soon after the publication date. I am hoping to recruit about 15-20 team members spread from coast to coast across the United States.

Rules?

Yes, of course, there are a few rules:

  • You must continue to be enthusiastically active in order to remain a member of the team, complete assigned tasks, post reviews, etc.
  • You must be polite, courteous and positive in all team associated communications.
  • No spamming. Spamming is ignored by readers/blog/pages/groups. It annoys them, and they will un-friend and ignore anything from us from that moment on.

God’s grace is what saves us

suicide-prevention-blog

Ephesians 2:8 says, “God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God.” (NLT)

So, to extrapolate on that verse, we are saved by God’s grace—not by our own deeds. In the same way that our good works don’t save us, our bad ones—or sins—cannot keep us from salvation.

In my latest book, Her Brother’s Keeper, Charlotte’s brother took his own life. Charlotte travels to Pennsylvania to investigate his life and troubles there. Why did his friends not get him the help he needed for his depression? Charlotte has many conversations with characters that knew her brother, trying to decide for herself if his sin of taking a life keeps Ethan from Heaven.

Her Brother’s Keeper will be released on July 7, 2015.

Charlotte Dolinsky is not above playing dress-up and telling a few lies to find out what happened to her only brother. In fact, that is exactly what she’s come to Lancaster County to do. Now, calling herself Mary and slipping on a kapp, Charlotte will lie her way into the confidence of anyone who knows why Ethan had to die. Unless she gets found out first.

But when Charlotte befriends a quiet Amish man named Isaac Miller, she begins to rethink her motives. And with a little help from a friend back home, Charlotte might find out that love comes packaged in ways she couldn’t have foreseen.

Isaac’s been caring for his cancer-stricken father and sympathizing with his frustrated mother for three difficult years. And that means he hasn’t been dating. He believes Hannah King is the woman for him, but Hannah is still grieving the loss of her fiancé, and Isaac has all he can handle on the farm. When Hannah’s family plays host to a woman named Mary, their new cousin shakes things up for all of them.

As Charlotte digs deeper into the mystery of Ethan’s death, she finds more than she’d bargained for in the community he once called home. But will she ever learn the truth? And what will the community—and her new family—do if they learn the truth about her?

Advance praise for Her Brother’s Keeper

“Readers will be hooked from the start to find out how this young woman will pull off her charade. An ideal book for someone new to Amish fiction.”

— Suzanne Woods Fisher, bestselling author of Anna’s Crossing

RT Book Reviews, 4 1/2 starred review and July 2015 Top Pick

“Wiseman’s new launch is edgier, taking on the tough issues of mental illness and suicide. Amish fiction fans seeking something a bit more thought provoking and challenging than the usual fare will find this series debut a solid choice.”

Library Journal, review

Ask Beth

Why did you write this book?

After writing two other Amish series and lots of Amish novellas, I wanted to create a new series that would be a bit edgier than what I’ve done in the past. Her Brother’s Keeper deals with serious subject matter, and I wanted to challenge the characters to search their hearts and beliefs when tragedy strikes. I strived to write a book that would be thought provoking, entertaining, and even a little controversial. As I’ve done with my other stories, I added in some fun moments to keep balance, but also wanted to show that the Amish folks aren’t so different than the rest of us. 🙂

What’s the take away?

I’m hoping that readers will be entertained, but also educated about the realities associated with suicide and mental illness. Will they recognize the signs that a loved one is in trouble and act on it? In the story, a character lives with regret for not doing more to help someone he sensed was reaching a point of no return.

Is there a spiritual message?

God forgives our sins the moment we ask Him to. There is nothing too big for Him to lift from our shoulders.
